he team at G-Ratt Baits continues
to innovate and add more products
every year, including this year, where they upgraded their popular glide baits and added
even more lures. The brand has a loyal following,
and their unique bait designs are well-known
among serious bass anglers. G-Ratt unveiled
a host of new items that will interest bass
fishermen everywhere. Here’s the full rundown of
what’s new with G-Ratt.
G-RATT 2.0 AND STEVE KENNEDY SIGNATURE GLIDE BAITS
The G-Ratt glide baits are very popular for bass and striper anglers and include three sizes: the 5.75-inch Pistol Pete, 8-inch Sneaky Pete, and 10-inch Poppa Pete. All the baits have been upgraded and redesigned for the new 2.0 versions with the same great gliding action, but with a new look. The colors include favorites like bone and hitch and unique, eye-catching colors like kokanee, JP, and Steve’s Gizzard Shad.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the new finishes; the colors have been improved with a clean design, and there is more detail on the scale patterns, gills, and eyes. Even though they look a little different than the first edition, they have the same slow sink rate as the original. Other changes include upgrading them with quality rotating hook hangers and ultra-sharp BKK hooks.
There are also some new colors, including a dark-hued signature series color from Jackson Roumbanis, son of professional angler Fred Roumbanis. It’s a unique color for a glide bait and will excel in dirty water and low-light conditions.
Bassmaster Elite Series pro Steve Kennedy is a noted big-bait fanatic and worked with G-Ratt for his signature series of glide baits. He wanted something that would suspend, almost like a jerkbait, and they could pull it off with the correct weighting with smaller split rings and a lighter gauge hook. They achieved this after many back- and-forth sessions and multiple prototypes until it was just right. Catch the Steve Kennedy Sneaky Pete close-up in this issue.
All of the colors in this lineup were hand-selected by Kennedy and include some of his favorite shades to imitate various forage species, including baby bass, bluegill, gizzard shad, and even a mullet for saltwater species. The bait comes in an 8-inch 2.55-ounce version.
G-RATT SOFT GLIDE BAIT
One recent trend is soft plastic glide baits; a small handful of companies are making them, and now,
