BERKLEY
T
he Berkley Fishing product team was at full
speed ahead this year, continuing to release
new products. Here’s a rundown of what’s new from Berkley.
CHOP BLOCK
Glide baits are all the rage right now, and one of the best ways to trigger bites from giant fish. Most glide baits are made from a rigid material, but several soft versions exist, including the existing Berkley Nessie and the new Chop Block.
Comparing the two, the Chop Block features a taller profile, much like a gizzard shad, and the new bait is available in three different sizes (six, eight, and 10 inches long) and 14 great new colors. The bait is made with Berkley’s proven Powerbait for added taste, and the segmented bait has a brush-style tail. It is made to “chop” from side-to-side to trigger bites from bass in many different situations.
One of the most unique things about the bait is the hook system, which features a treble hook under the
belly fastened in place and then connected to a double hook stinger. A magnet in the bait keeps the stinger in place, and when a fish is hooked, the hooks come apart from the body of the bait to keep the fish from getting leverage to throw the hooks. Both hooks are super sharp Fusion19 hooks, and the stinger system is also sold separately if you need to replace it.
TRIPLE MINNOW RIG
Shaking a minnow on a jighead has become very popular, but Berkley took it to the next level with the

opportunity to shake three baits at once on the Triple Minnow Rig. This unique system is available as just the components for the rig or with a kit with minnow baits and jigheads. It features transparent fluorocarbon arms that allow you to slide your line through the center of them and add two dummy baits on screwlocks for added attraction.
While it was meant for shaking a minnow on forward-facing sonar, it can also be used similarly to a spinnerbait or umbrella rig and
