MAXSCENT FLUX GILL
PowerBait MaxScent needs no introduction, as the scented baits have been very well received since they were released. New for this year is a new gill-shaped design called the Flux Gill. It’s a flat bait with unique features, such as the holes within it. This does two things: it helps with scent dispersion and gives it a unique action.
The bait comes in 12 colors and two sizes (3.5 and 5.3 inches long) and can be fished in many ways. The Flux Gill works when fished alone on a Texas, drop- shot, or Neko Rig, but can also be used as a trailer for a buzzbait or vibrating jig. Because of the flat nature of the bait, it’s also great for a free rig as it has a unique and fluttering falling action.
RIVETER BUZZBAIT
Berkley released a spinnerbait in recent years, and now, they have a buzzbait called the Riveter. It comes in three versions: a skirted bait and two versions without a skirt meant for affixing a soft plastic toad or other soft bait trailer.
The sound is one of the biggest things you will notice when fishing with this bait. It has an aggressive and loud sound as it’s retrieved. The bait was built to sound just like a well-worn buzzbait that clacks along the surface.
The skirted bait comes in two sizes (1/4 and 3/8-ounce) and seven colors. The lineup also has several blade colors, with some baits having silver, gold, black, and white blades. The Toad and Finesse Toad
baits are both ¼-ounce heads and offered in silver, gold, and black bladed versions.
SCREAMIN’ CHOPPO
The Choppo has become a popular plopping-style topwater bait, and now there is a new “Screamin’” version with a wider profile and a different sound. Available in two sizes (95 and 110mm) and 16 colors, the wider profile keeps it from rolling, and the sound is made with a metal tail insert, rivet, and chamber that all add more noise so that it can be found by bass, even in choppy waters.
Berkley has been busy, adding many new products for all fish species. They added several new items that will surely interest bass anglers, which are already hitting the shelves of your local tackle shop and online retailers. •
