ST. CROIX
what’s new from
Winter 2024
This year is a big one for the folks at St. Croix. For one, they are celebrating their 75th anniversary of creating some of the best fishing rods ever made, or the “Best Rods on Earth,” and the team also added something new this year: reels. They have a full lineup of great rods and now reels you can pair them with. In addition, they won another award at ICAST for the revamped Mojo Bass lineup, plus they gave two other rod lines a big makeover.
It was a big year for new products. Here’s a look at the new items from St. Croix and what’s new for 2023.
INTRODUCING SEVIIN
The new reel brand from St. Croix is called SEVIIN and they have several new reels that will work great with their many different rods. The brand was created with the idea of adding great rods to the lineup and the name represents the seven seas, seven continents, and seven days of the week.
The first launch includes one baitcast series called the GF and two freshwater spinning reels, the GS and GX. All of them were designed with performance, durability, and value in mind.
The GF reels retail for $120 and includes right and left-handed retrieves in popular reel speeds 6.6:1: 7.3:1, and 8.1:1. They feature some cool features like the line memory indicator to keep track of what pound test line is on your reel. They also have a forged aluminum spool, carbon fiber handle with EVA grips and magnetic cast control.
They have three models for spinning: the GS and GSW (saltwater) and the GX. The standard GS for freshwater is $140 and has a forged aluminum spool, custom aluminum handle and their S-Curve Slow oscillation system for smoothness during the retrieve. The GX is a step up at $190 and has additional features like more bearings and a titanium bail wire.
AWARD-WINNING MOJO BASS RODS
The Mojo Bass series has been a staple for bass anglers looking for great, technique-specific rods at a fair cost. That hasn’t changed, but the new version of the rods looks much different and has been improved all around. One of the most significant changes is the unique handle design called TRIGON.
