PXR MAVRIK 110 JERKBAIT

Jerkbaits have always been great fish catchers, but now with forward-facing sonar, bass anglers use them everywhere and in all seasons. Rapala’s new jerkbait is in the proven 110mm size that imitates several baitfish and they’ve put their spin on the design.

IMPROVEMENTS AND ADDITIONS TO HARDBAITS

Rapala has plenty of proven lures and has revamped a couple of them. The Shad Rap is a classic lure that excels for bass, especially in colder water. This year they have added the Shad Rap Elite, which includes premium high- definition colors and improved components. Also new is a deeper diving version of the Ott’s Garage Tiny. The Rapala OG Deep Tiny 7 is small, just 2 1/4-inches long, but the deeper diving version will hit depths of 7 feet deep.

TACKLE STORAGE, LINE SPOOLING, AND TOOLS

Rapala also has a healthy selection of accessories and added a few more this year. The RapStack Tackle Trays are built to withstand heavy use with rigid plastic that is both cold and heat-resistant. They will come in the popular 3600 and 3700 sizes and are made to be stackable. Retail price is $11.99 and $14.99, respectively.

SmartHub is a device that can be mounted to your boat, work area, or wherever you please. The device allows you to mount several or use one and swap out the accessory with an interchangeable design. New are a magnetic tool holder and a line spooler with a pivoting and adjustable design.

It has premium components, including VMC RedLine Series trebles and was designed to cast long distances and suspend perfectly. The Long-Cast System is a weight transfer system that aids in casting distance. The Mavrik also has a head-down diving action and can be fished slowly for short twitches or ripped to get the bait to turn 180 degrees. It weighs ½-ounce, will come in 18 colors, and the retail price is $14.99.

One neat new tool bass anglers will like is the Split Ring Scissors, which can change split rings on your baits or cut your fishing line. They are stainless steel and have a serrated cutting edge that easily handles braided lines.

Rapala continues to improve existing products and come out with new ones. While Crush City was the big news this year, they had plenty to talk about and you’ll start seeing these products in stores this fall.
