know at all times the NuJig stays upright and

hooks fish in the roof of their mouth making

it nearly impossible to shake the hook loose. I

haven’t lost a NuJig to a snag yet. NuTech Lures

also produces a football version, the Blitz. I

highly recommend checking these out; it will

simplify your jig fishing like you never thought

possible.

Then slowly lift your rod tip and let the jig fall back to the bottom. After a few hops you swim the jig a few feet, then begin to hop the jig again.

SWIM JIG-HEAD

I like a flat bottom on swim jig heads, so it will plane well in the water, that mixed with a wedge-shapes side will allow it to slide between vegetation such as grass. I tend to swim jigs fast, because I’m looking for that reaction bite. Being able to cast swim jigs and get into places with cover and vegetation is important to get your jig in the strike zone.

I use a swim jig to give smaller swimbaits more flair from the skirt and weight from the head, while also allowing me to slide through vegetation. This is not to say a swim jig isn’t as valuable in its own right. Typically; however, it’s favorable to add a soft plastic as a trailer you are intending on swimming.

Remember that jig fishing demands lots of concentration. Knowing what your jig feels like when it is just sitting, or when you are moving it will help you detect irregularities and/or bites. Keep your hooks sharp.
