your banking center that you belong to and get pre- approved. It’s a very simple process in which you will fill out a credit application and wait for an approval. The other way you can handle it is by going to your local Boat Dealership and they can handle the whole process from A-Z for you. If you’ve been delaying the purchase of that new boat due to the fact that you’re worried about your credit you’d be quite surprised at what some of the banks will do for people right now. Rick Grover, owner of Anglers Marine says, “We have a secret weapon that no other dealership has!” After talking with Rick he’s pretty excited about one of the banks he has due to the fact that he can get people into their new or used boats even after they have been turned down by other boat dealerships and in some cases their own Credit Union!!!!

Well now that we have the finance portion handled now it’s on to a subject that sometimes gets overlooked. “Where am I going to store it and will my vehicle pull it?” Seems like a no brainer, right? “You’d be surprised!” says Joe Uribe. “When I first started here years ago I never even thought that would be a question that I would have to ask a customer. Sometimes they just get all excited at the thought or they just went out on a friends boat and get caught up in the moment and forget they drive a Honda Accord!” “Ummmm, no sir that will not tow a Ranger Z521 sir!” We both laughed hysterically! All kidding aside make sure if you’re in the market for a new boat you have to have a place to put it. Make sure to take proper measurements of the boat and the storage place.

Okay now we have those particulars covered, so onto some of the meat and potatoes. So now you’ve figured out what you’re capable of buying and towing and what you can store. Now it’s onto which boat is right for you. Some things to consider when deciding on a boat are: will you compete in tournaments? The type of water you fish? How many people will typically be fishing with you?

Here’s probably the greatest tip of all time I could ever give someone... Buy your second boat the first time! Maybe one of the biggest mistakes I’ve seen over and over through my sales career was watching people sell themselves short and settling on a boat that was not exactly fitted for their needs. The most common regret I’ve heard is I should’ve gotten the bigger motor. Unfortunately an outboard motor isn’t like replacing a fish finder or a trolling motor.
