THE NEW GENERATION OF VERITAS
The white Abu Garcia Veritas rod has been a favorite for bass anglers for over a decade. They are light, affordable, and proven. The latest Veritas is the best yet and borrows many of the same technologies from Abu’s higher priced rods.
The newest Veritas is 15 percent stronger and 5 percent lighter thanks to a Powerlux 100 resin system. This technology was previously only in Abu’s higher-end rods. One other change to this edition is a new grip, with Winn Dri-Tac grips.
THE VIRTUAL ROD COMBO
Last year, Abu made a splash with a digital rod, a rod with built-in Bluetooth. When paired with the Anglr app and a smartphone, anglers can click a button on the rod butt. This saves weather and location data for future use.
Now, there is a combo available. The low-profile baitcast combo has a one-piece graphite frame and reel with plenty of features. The spinning combo is also lightweight and packed with features like Abu’s Rocket Line Management.
GEN IKE EZ CAST COMBOS
In the “Ike” lineup, there are several rod and reel combos designed for new anglers. Each of the combos is inspired by Mike Iaconelli and his goals of getting new anglers into the sport. The combos are pre-spooled with line and have impressive features for their low cost. There are both baitcast, spinning, and spincast combos on the way.
The Gen Ike EZ Cast baitcast combo has an “Anti- Backlash System” designed to help inexperience anglers get the hang of fishing with baitcast gear. It also has a three bearing system, a six-foot medium action rod with EVA handles, and is pre-spooled with 10-pound test.
The Gen Ike Low Profile Combo is one step up with more bearings, Duragear brass gearing, a one-piece graphite reel frame, and more.
On the spinning side, the Gen Ike Spinning Combo has a four bearing reel spooled with 8-pound test and a matching rod. The final combos in the lineup is the Ike Dude Spinning Combo and Ike Dude Spincast Combo.
