FISHING ROOSEVELT
our last Won Bass pro/am tournament was held at the beginning of May with spawn and post spawn conditions. The lake was at 67 percent capacity; so the fishing was red hot. Most of the submerged islands around the main lake were all exposed and the Salt end was a little tricky to navigate through; but the fish were biting good. The shad spawn was in full swing! all of the Won bass competitors brought in limits on day one, which is a rare feat to say the least. The topwater bite and Senko bite were nothing short of fantastic. Water temps were in the mid ‘70s and the fish were hungry! Going to the other extreme when the water is at full pool, roosevelt can be extremely stingy. one of my greatest weaknesses as an angler is getting off the bank and fishing off shore. lake roosevelt gives you the opportunity to fish off shore submerged islands all over the lake when it is above 80 percent capacity.

if you’re in the mood for some wings check out Boston’s, located on the HWY 188 and for the tonto side of the lake, check out the Butcher Hook for some good ol’ fashion chicken fried steak. The place to stay closest to the lake is the tonto Basin inn or the Butcher Hook rV Park. if you are looking for guide services you can contact the arizona fishing guides by looking them up on the web. There are some hot anglers like Josh Bertrand and Scooter as well as Johnny Johnson that will be able to put the beginner to average angler on a pretty good pattern and catch lots of fish.
