The past two or so years, Lake Roosevelt has been kicking out some pretty good bags as well as being pretty stingy. It’s one of those on-again, off-again lakes. The lake levels have been fluctuating from full pool to its current level of about 54 percent.

When i first started tournament fishing, i drew John Murray in a pro/am and watched him stop in the middle of the lake and put a quick limit in the boat. it was mind blowing as a beginner to see this unfold and watch!

LAKE MAPPING

i recently attended the iCaSt show in orlando. Fla. i was at the navionics booth and found some great information that i would like to share with you. navionics has a new software program for fewer than 100 bucks a year; you can have access to real time updates of the lakes on the chip. You just upload and download your mapping chip to help explore new areas of the lake you haven’t seen before or where they are lacking in contour lines. Basically, you can throw out the old school maps and just upload and download the info to navionics and within 24-hours navionics will update that particular lake to show new contours, hazards, etc! i

wish i had this when i was at lake Shasta a couple of years ago. Finding new areas that have better contour lines as well as structure will be much more rewarding for the average angler and the old honey holes will now be exposed. it might save a few lower units as well! in closing, i would suggest to try to get out and fish different bait applications this summer/fall and catch some fish on your weakest presentation. it will help you out in the long run so you can become a more balanced fisherman. Personally, i still haven’t figured that umbrella rig out’ so if you have any suggestions drop me a line. andy Manahl is sponsored by lobina lures - “Home of the rico”, Mattress depot, a and M Graphics, Fish arrow Co., Uoya ltd.
