One of Mustad’s key pillars is being a sustainable company, and they have integrated that into the packaging for many of their hooks. The packaging eliminates over 65 percent of waste and uses paper with limited plastic. It looks good and showcases Mustad’s commitment to the environment.
Another new line, primarily for saltwater anglers, is hooks with Ultra Nor technology that makes them up to 20 percent stringer. They are using a new forging process for their proven hook shapes already made. This improves the pull strength of the same gauge of wire, and they also added a Titan Steel nano-coating to make them even stronger and more corrosion resistant.
MUSTAD TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES
Also new from Mustad is a series of tools that fit everyday angler uses but are also packed with convenient features. Many tools, like the 7.5” pliers and multi-tool, are highly technical, with bottle openers, wire cutters, knot-tying tools, crimpers, and more. There are many tools available, and they keep adding more. The newest options are the 11” Peal Nickel Ergonomic Pistol Pliers, 8” Straight Nose Pliers, and 3.5” Serrated Braid Scissors.
The tools fit the needs of anglers, with plenty of different types of pliers, split ring tools, braid cutters, and scissors. They are well-built, made to last, and extremely useful for all anglers.
NEW FROM LIVETARGET
There were several new bass lures on the lure side of things with LIVETARGET. Included was a unique frog called the Freestyle Frog 2.0, Shad and Sunfish swimbaits, LIVETARGET worms, and a new crawfish imitator.
The new Freestyle frog comes in three sizes (2”, 2.5”, and 3”) and looks just like a real frog with realistic legs. It’s made with their Injected Core Technology, which gives it a soft inner core and durable outer section. This helps to keep it soft and buoyant but also makes it very strong. The new Craw (2.8” and 3.8”) uses the same molding technology and looks incredibly lifelike. You can rig it in several different ways.
The new swimbaits are the Shad (4.5”, 5.5”, and 6.5”) and Sunfish (3.3”, 3.8”, and 4.3”), which swim great and look very realistic. They use the same Injected Core Technology as the frog, which makes them durable with the ability to have lifelike colors.
There are also several new worms, including four sizes (3”, 4”, 5”, and 6”) of their Stick Worm to use on everything from a Ned Rig to wacky or Texas rigs. The body is ribbed, and they use a saltless plastic that makes them extra buoyant. Also new are the straight tail and finesse worms in 4.5”, 5.5”, and 6.5”, which you can fish in many different ways. They are soft, lifelike, and full of action from the soft plastic material they use.
Mustad and its family of brands continue adding new products while improving their existing offerings. New for this year are some great hook technologies, smart tools, and several new LIVETARGET lures. •
