Winter 2024

®

The series includes the standard versions and those with the AGS guides, which are lighter and a premium product. In the AGS lineup, 16 new models were designed by professional anglers Brent Ehrler, Ish Monroe, Seth Feider, Randy Howell, Cory and Chris Johnston, and more. In this lineup are several additions with full cork grips, a change from the original models that all had EVA split grips—the rods in the AGS line retail for $299.99.

NEW FUEGO LT AND TATULA MQ LT SPINNING REELS

The Fuego is another famed name from Daiwa and the new LT (light and tough) version borrows a lot of technology from more expensive models. It costs $109.99, but it has the same lightweight Zaion V body and MagSealed construction from more expensive reels to protect the gears from dirt and grime.

NEW BAITS: BESSIE AND BULL STEEL

While Daiwa is best known for its great rods and reels, they’ve made some awesome lures over the years. They continue to add new hard baits for salt and freshwater anglers, a host of soft plastics with their collaboration with Yamamoto Baits. This year, they added several more.

The new Tatula MQ LT will retail for $199.99 and is still “light and tough” and even more so now. It has a Monocoque Zaion V-Body, making it more durable and light.

LEXA HIGH-CAPACITY REELS

The Lexa is a low-profile rod designed for saltwater anglers but has plenty of fans in the freshwater bass swimbait world. New for this year are 300 and 400-sized reels with single and double handles. They’ve been redesigned and are tough, with aluminum frames and swept rod handles. Retail cost for the new Lexa starts at $219.99.

The Prorex Bessie is a monstrous floating prop bait built with a collab between Daiwa and Nishine Lure Works. This giant 6.5-ounce bait weighs in at 5.5 ounces and was designed for muskie fishing, but it would likely work excellent for trophy bass. It floats and has very realistic finishes with hand-carved scales and would be a great topwater to throw where big bass live. It retails for $69.99.

While it’s a little big and meant for saltwater species, the Bull Steel Jigs are giant blade baits that could also come into play for big, cold water bass. The smallest size is a 1 1/9-ounce, with another model available in 1 3/5-ounce, so they will get down deep quickly.

D-BOX CASES

Daiwa has several storage items from bags and tackle boxes for your baits, like the new D-Box cases built from recycled plastic. They have four-sided clasps to lock down and a 360-degree water-resistant gasket seal to keep your things nice and dry. They come in six sizes and retail between $13.99-$18.99.

Daiwa continues to pump out great new products and this year, they have revamped some of the popular names and added features to make them even better. In addition to the rods and reels, they have a few lures and tackle boxes that might interest you the next time you shop for new gear.
