SWAMP LORD FROGS
There are tons of different frogs on the market already, but Berkley added two more this year and they are called the Swamp Lord. There is a standard and popping version and one thing that separates them from the rest is how soft they are. You can feel it in your hand; they are very soft, which will significantly increase hookup percentages.
Both versions come in cool colors and have a solid Berkley Fusion19 hook angled to get the
perfect hookup. They each retail for $9.99 and will be available this Fall.
ADDITIONS TO THE LINEUP
The Berkley PowerBait PowerStinger was designed just for a vibrating jig and does a great job on the back of one. This year, they added a paddle tail version of this same trailer to give your vibrating jig a different action. It also works well on the back of a swim jig.
Another product extension is the Berkley PowerBait Shad-E Swimbait. It has the same look and design as the award-winning Gilly but in a shad profile. It’s the perfect match in profile for a shad and will appeal to those bigger bass that eat them. It will come in three sizes, 4.5, 5.3, and 6.1 inches long, and retail price is $9.99 per pack.
SOMETHING TO STORE THOSE BAITS
Berkley’s parent company, Pure Fishing, is a big one with many of the biggest brands in fishing. Included in that umbrella is Plano. This year, they added some new boxes to better store your baits. Included in that is the Plano Edge Jerkbait Box that will hold 20 Berkley Stunna jerkbaits or baits of a similar size.
It has a unique design keeps the bait perfectly in line, so you don’t hang up trebles with other baits when you reach for a bait. It’s a heavy-duty box built to last and will retail for $49.99.
The Berkley and Pure Fishing team continues to pump out great new products. They’ve always been excellent for soft plastics but have really stepped their hard bait and swimbait game in recent years and there are plenty more on the way.
