my own personal mapping make a big blue screen on the map with no detail become a lake full of one foot contours.
For small or out-of-the-way lakes and rivers, mapping it yourself may be the only way to get any detail.
The data that you submit is called Sonar Logs. Once the Sonar Logs are submitted your mapping will be updated and reflected with the Navionics data.
You can then update your standard Navionics card and view this new data on your chartplotter. The changes will also be reflected when you are
viewing the Navionics WebApp, as well as the mobile and iPad apps.
One of the things I like about Navionics is that the data is being submitted by users that own all of the major brands of chartplotters and it is not restricted to one brand or relying just on your own mapping. The collective data from everyone helping makes the mapping better for everyone.
Mapping a lake yourself provides a sense of accomplishment, but more importantly you are able to make finding fish much easier just by recording your Sonar Logs while you fish or go boating.
