stainless steel bracket included with the transducer, make sure there are no obstructions on either side of
the transducer.
I have seen where people place the LSS
transducer on the transom and when they trim the
outboard motor down to idle around and look at an
area, the outboard motor is blocking one side of the
transducer, so there is no return for that side.
On a bass boat installation where the owner does
not have a jackplate moving the outboard motor
back far enough to clear the area to each side of the
StructureScan transducer, you will not get a reading
on one side (either left or right, whichever side is
blocked).
If you don’t have a jack plate, you can mount the
transducer directly to the bottom of the boat right to
the edge of the transom and run the cable up the back
of the boat and up to the console unit.
If you decide to mount the StructureScan
transducer in this manner, you will need to go into
the StructureScan menu and choose FLIP LEFT AND
RIGHT. This way what is on the right side of the boat
will be on the right side of the screen and the same
for the left side. The reason you need to do this is because the transducer is designed to be installed with the cable end pointing toward the bow of the boat or direction of travel.
QUESTION #6
My HDS-7 Gen3 unit froze last time out. I could turn the unit on, but when I would hit ACCEPT during the boot up, nothing would happen. The unit would not allow me to change Pages or anything. Then when I got home, in my garage, I turned the unit on and everything seems to be working fine. Any ideas why this occurred and how can I prevent it from happening in the future?
ANSWER #6
First, check the voltage going to the unit. A voltmeter on the positive wire will tell you this.
If the voltage is fine, you may need to recalibrate the touch screen. To do this, start with the unit off. Hold down the WAYPOINT button and press the POWER
