really seen the benefits of using braided line as a main line to a fluorocarbon top shot.
I too, do this with all my spinning reels, and have only been benefited with the change. I save money because I only buy enough braid to mostly fill the spool, and can reverse the line after a while, each season buying one spool of braid per reel and changing out the fluorocarbon leader as needed, really about one spool of each size fluorocarbon lasts me a while.
Personally, I use 10 lb power pro to anything from 6 to 10 lb Seaguar InvizX. Like I said previously I use a uni to uni knot to join the braid and fluorocarbon. This knot is simple to tie, works on any size or strength line. Some complain about the end result being too bulky,
I’ve only used it on spinning reels so never have had that problem.
I can see the argument for casting rods and reels getting the knot through the line guide. In which case, if you can get away with not as long of a fluorocarbon leader I would suggest tying your uni to uni knot so
