Like modern computer’s, the ability to rotate, pan, and tilt any image with a touch of your finger, makes it even easier to determine where bait and fish are located with relation to your boat position. It helps you see the vertical height of objects, or the depth of a creek channel.
Because the StructureScan 3D is data intensive, it only works on Lowrance HDS Gen3 units that have a powerful processor capable of handling the huge volume of information. This is not intended for high speed use, but rather for cruising and trolling speeds (optimum speed under 10 mph). Otherwise you could outrun your coverage.
Even experienced sonar users will benefit from 3D technology. Subtle bottom variations are more easily noticed. If you target shell beds, creek mouths, rocky bottoms, or weed beds you will see these more easily than previously possible.
