Berkley is adding the Power Pop, PowerBait Beat’n Paddle Frog, and PowerBait Buzz’n Speed Toad.
The Power Pop is the look and shape of a topwater popper but has a soft plastic bait’s softness. It has a durable material to keep water out and is said to be nearly impossible to sink. It has a cupped mouth like a traditional popper, but a hook pocket keeps it weedless. It will come in two sizes (50mm and 70mm).
The Beat’n Paddle Frog has paddle tail feet for great action and it will be available in the HD Tru colors and standards like black, white, and green pumpkin. The Buzz’n Toad is a 4.25” bait with serrated feet to
give it a great buzzing action on the surface. From Berkley’s Fusion19 lineup are two new frog specific double hooks for toad-style baits. It will come in both weighted and unweighted versions and have a forged hook for strength and sharp needle point for great hookups.
The unweighted version comes in packs of two in both 4/O and 5/O. There is also a weighted version of these new hooks.
THE HIT STICK
Berkley set out to make a plastic lure with the action of a balsa bait and the Hit Minnow is the latest creation. It is a floating-minnow style bait but has a unique action thanks to its new FlashDisc technology.
The bait itself is a polycarbonate which makes it extremely durable; but is said to have action just like balsa. The FlashDisc is a weighting system to make it track just right. It is a true multi-species bait that will catch bass by casting it to walleye and other species when trolled. Sizes include: 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15.
