KEEP IT MOVING
Meyer rounds out his fall selection with a crankbait. That could be a Strike King KVD 1.5 squarebill or a Strike King 10XD. Location, i.e. the Delta vs. a deep, clear reservoir will determine the appropriate choice. The key is maintaining bottom contact and bumping along the local structure.
“”Also, a Strike King Rage Swimmer is an awesome fall bait,”” Meyer added. “That’s a mid- depth bait with great appeal.
“A lot of fish suspend in the fall and, while a crankbait works on those fish too, a swimbait is going to do a better job of creating the most realistic look. It’s more subtle, very realistic and you can reel it through the baitfish and catch a lot of fish.””
Meyer’s closing tip: “Fishing too slowly is a common fall mistake. You gotta cover water. That’s the key; because. fall fish can be hard to find. But, when you find them, they’re going to be grouped up and you’ll catch a lot more fish.” •
