Any way you try to spin those statements, the underlying root cause to the failure in those cases is stubbornness, or closemindedness. Either way, an angler who makes those statements is doomed to the “Taillights over the Dam” crowd instead of the “I’m standing in line to get my paycheck, I’ll call you back,” crowd.

I saw it again at the 2016 Forrest Wood Cup on Wheeler Lake in Huntsville, Ala.

Let’s start by saying this… In the summertime, most of the Tennessee River impoundments; which Wheeler Lake is, are known for one thing – ledge fishing. In the post spawn through the early fall, a large majority of the fish will pull out to the original Tennessee River shoreline and feed on baitfish that swim out there.

Drive by any of these lakes and a lot of the time, you will see boats lined up throwing some sort of offshore offering to the flat on top of the ledge, retrieving them off the ledge into deep water. Those who find a shell bed or a
