o many it is a day like any other; to me it is a day to remember. it is

another day that i was invited to spend with the “Father of Flippin” dee

Thomas. is it too cliché to say...The man, the myth, the legend? Maybe...

maybe not. Some people know the man and many have heard the myth; but every time i sit in the “visitor’s chair” in the bait-filled garage, i know i am sitting

next to a legend.

The time always passes quickly, filled with stories from a years gone by. The trail

Thomas took throughout his fishing career is still recalled with extreme precision.

The many championships, the baits, the partners, the people, the sponsors, the

changes, even some of the heartbreaks make their way into the tales.

on this day i ask, “Hey dee, you sure you don’t want to talk about giving birth to

the Flippin’ technique?” The fishing icon thought for a moment and again declined

saying, “Not for this, this is about today, guys already know about that; that was

yesterday. another day, another day, we will talk about that.”

So, we went fishing. We talked and we fished and again the dee-

ism’s that make up one of the most famed fishermen within the

industry flowed freely. He touched upon today’s tournaments, the

trail he took and the tidal water fishery that he calls home.
