Moving to the next set of baits is the heavy cover baits – the frog. There is a lot of controversy on the frog. Most anglers don’t have the tackle or the whereabouts to throw it. it is frustrating when the bass use your frog as a volley ball. When fishing frogs, braid is a must- fifty to sixty- five pound Spider Wire. The rod has to have backbone; you have to be able to pull them out of the heavy cover. There are two basic types of frogs, one is the pointy nose style frog. This frog can be used in most areas. When the wind comes up, this frog has issues because it wants to nose dive or the fish just cannot hear it. This is when i pick up the Poppin’ Frog. This type frog has a big open mouth which will allow you to throw it into heavy cover, even in the wind. With this mouth, the kaboosh, kaboosh noise will attract large predator fish. i am a little

different when it comes to frog fishing. i like to use something that the bass has not seen a lot of – i use optimum Bait’s Furbit the Frog. The Furbit has actual rabbit fur for legs. This bait will move in the water more freely than any rubber legged frog can. This is why fly fishermen use fur on their flies, just more movement than rubber. The legs will continue to move while it sits there, coaxing Mr. Bass to a duel and if that was not enough, they added a little spinner blade on the back for flash. You would think it would get hung up in the weeds – it doesn’t. if you don’t want it on the Furbit, you can remove it. it is just an added feature.

Have we left out anything? oh yea, walking baits! You can’t forget them. Walking baits have been around for years and years. everybody makes one. i even designed one for the ima Company. i am

biased; i believe it is the best made bait out there.

You don’t have to change a thing. From the best

hooks to the best split rings, it is strong to

handle whatever you need it to handle. The

ima Big Stik is an

excellent walking

bait. You might

think it is big

when you put it

on your rod but

it is no larger

than a blue gill,

catfish, hitch,

baby carp, baby

bass or a trout.

When you see

it in the water,

you will know

it is not that

big. it fishes

small but

catches them

big! You can
