targeting the next wave around the upcoming moon phase Weyer suggested the best time would be three to four days before or after the new or full moon.

How

“if they’re locked on, it’s quick and easy,” explained Weyer. “drop your bait right in the middle, right at the heart of their bed; if they’re aggressive bounce it more, if they’re passive, bump the bass by making quick pitches at the tail, head and dorsal fin."

For "cruisers" fire long casts 10 to 15-feet in front of them; when they're almost to the bait, he picks it up, slightly and then lets it drop in their path.

Weyer described “perimeter cruisers” as catchable; but did say they're harder and could take the longest. He watches for their “circling” path and intercepts them with a hopping a jig or plastic.

tag-teaming with two baits, one on the bed and one moving was not a recommended technique. Weyer stated, “You can confuse them and it takes twice as long.”

For blind casting grass

flats, he goes for a weightless Senko or anything topwater and fan casts the possible bedding area.

or texas-rigging a Flappin’

Hawg. He will also opt for a

weightless Senko.

When choosing a color, his top picks are white, chartreuse, black or green pumpkin. “i’ve caught more big fish on black baits than anything else, especially on the delta,” revealed Weyer. He attributed this to the darker hue of the natural baitfish saying, “Crawdads and bluegills are plentiful here and the dark shades dominate the delta.”

For his gear, he recommends a rod with a good backbone and a fast tip. Weyer's dropshot rig includes a 726 Powell endurance rod and for texas-rigging a 764; for both he has a Shimano Curado 7:1 reel.

His line of choice is 15 to 20# Seaguar abrazx in heavier cover and 12# for open water or more

pressured areas and 50 to 60# Kanzen braid for

topwater or texas-rigged baits. Weyer stated,
