RAPALA
VMC HOOKS & CRUSH CITY
When it comes to fishing lures, few brands can match Rapala’s legendary status. They’ve produced great baits for many decades, which continues in 2025, with something for many species. Besides the Rapala name, their company includes popular names like VMC and Crush City. All of them introduced new items at ICAST that will be of interest to bass anglers.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the best new items for the bass world.
RAPALA LURES AND ACCESSORIES
Rapala revamped old-school baits and came out with some brand-new designs. For the old baits, they added some new colors to the Original Floating Minnow: Nordic Perch, metallic silver, and chrome blue. They also added a larger 1-ounce size of the famed Jigging Rap.
For the new stuff, their unique plopping-style bait called the ClapTail won an award for best new hardbait at ICAST. It’s a great-looking bait with a plopping tail and metal prop on its back for even more noise and
commotion. It’s a big bait, weighing 7/8-ounce and coming in eight colors.
The DT Series is a staple for crankbait fishing, and now they have a new “in-between” size, the DT-12. It’s a 3/5-ounce bait and will come in a massive selection of 36 different colors. Another new crankbait is the Snare 50, a lipless bait designed for great casting distance and shimmy as it falls. It’s a 1/2-ounce bait that will come in 18 different colors.
Besides lures, Rapala also manufactures a host of tools and accessories. One new item is the Rap Wrap, a hook-resistant clear PVC wrap to secure your lures and keep them from tangling with other baits when on your rod. This concept has been done, but their version is solid and well-built. Also new is the Rapid Pack, a zippered bag made of durable PVC material for storing your bags of soft plastics.
Rapala added several tools, including a pair of braided line scissors called the XD Super Line Scissor and a solid pair of pliers called the Super Stainless Steel Pliers.
CRUSH CITY CONTINUES TO GROW
