LURES AND LINE
Aside from rods and reels, Daiwa continues to add products in all categories. They have many new lures under the Daiwa name, distribute the Ever Green brand, and make boxes to store them. For line, there are also many new items, including the new Samurai 8 braid and J-FLUORO mainline.
Samurai 8 continues the legendary Samurai name with a new 8-strand coated braid that is very thin and sinks quickly. It comes in two spool sizes (165 and 330 yards) and sizes from 8 to 80 pounds test in a dark green color. This braid is thinner, softer, and smoother than standard braided lines.
The new J-FLUORO mainline is a value-priced line that costs less than $15 per spool. It is still 100 percent
fluorocarbon with Japanese materials. It was developed for solid knot and tensile strength, but it is still soft and manageable.
For Daiwa lures, there is the Smelthead DX underspin, the 6-inch Tournament D-Fin swimbait, and smaller 75mm for the popular TD Minnow jerkbaits. New from Ever Green is the Combat Rat, a big jointed wake bait that weighs 2.3 ounces, and the Last Ace 128 S, A 5-inch minnow designed for mid-strolling. They also released the DD X-Over, a deep-diving shad profile
crankbait.
It was a jam- packed Daiwa booth at ICAST 2024 as they showed off plenty of new items for all anglers. They jumped into the BFS game, added more line and lures, and refreshed some of their most popular brands. •
