Since GSM purchased Yamamoto Baits, they’ve continued adding more products while keeping the staples that have made them so popular for decades. They have been much more aggressive with new designs in the past few years, taking new spins on proven designs and having some completely new items to help fill the gaps.

Here’s a look at what’s new with Yamamoto.

5-INCH FAT SENKO

The Senko needs no introduction and all of the different sizes and variations have been highly successful for Yamamoto and all of the anglers worldwide using them to catch bass. New for this year

is a Fat Senko in the 5-inch size, with a body that is 20 percent larger than the standard Senko, allowing it to fall faster and appeal to even larger fish. It’s available in 16 colors, including two new colors: tilapia magic and blue craw.

3-INCH SCOPE SHAD

Forward-facing sonar has taken over bass fishing and is here to stay. Because of this, fishing companies are producing baits that help with the technique, like the

new Scope Shad. It’s a perfect baitfish imitator and can be fished on ball heads and cast to fish seen on your electronics. Its Mega Floater Formula plastic helps to give it great action and you can also fish it other ways, such as on an underspin. All of the 13 colors of the bait were chosen to fish in clear water situations, imitating baitfish where anglers most often use their forward- facing sonar.

10-INCH ICHI AND OKI WORMS

A big worm is a summertime staple and they have a knack for catching big bass. That’s why Yamamoto came out with two new designs, both 10 inches long, that should be favorites for those who like to fish these baits in deep water for monster bass.

The Ichi has a ribbed body design, similar to their Slinko, but has a bulky profile that displaces water and leaves a trail of bubbles. It’s a unique worm with a soft plastic formula that makes it lifelike and increases hookups. The ribbon tail gives a lot of action and the plastic is their Mega Floater Formula, so you can expect great action and movement no matter how you rig it. It comes in 16 colors, including some Yamamoto favorites and some new ones like tilapia magic, plum candy, blue with large black flake, and blue craw.

The Oki is also 10-inches long but has a straight tail design. “Oki” is the Japanese word for long sword
