ody Meyer will
never forget
it. Fishing a tournament on the
Potomac River, both he
and fellow pro Shinichi
Fukae were working the
same stretch of weeds.
Meyer was in front; Fukae
behind him. Problem was,
the lead guy was getting
smoked by the follower.
“Shin is just smashing
them behind me,”
Meyer remembered.
“I’m switching baits and
everything. He’s still
smashing them.
“Turns out, he was
using a J-Rig while I was
using a regular Texas rig.”
