JAMES NIGGEMEYE
A
fter back-to-back discouraging seasons on
the Bassmaster Elite Series, veteran pro
James Niggemeyer was the first man out of requalifying. It took what had been a professionally
discouraging period and made it even more disheartening.
So what did he do? He got back in the boat with his
local friends, fished for fun, and reminded himself why he
loved the sport and had chosen it as a career.
“If every time you put the boat in the water it’s a high- stress situation, you remove the fun from it,” he said.
Then for 2018, he moved to the FLW Tour, earned four solid checks in seven regular season events, qualified for his first championship since 2015, and finished 2nd in the Forrest Wood Cup, earning a cool hundred grand in tournament winnings along the way.
