eather conditions, fishing pressure, and water
clarity all play a big role in how bass feed. As
anglers, we must be able to adapt to changes and present our lures in the right way to catch bass in all
situations.
Bassmaster Elite Series and Major League Fishing pro Fletcher Shryock modifies and adjusts his soft plastics for each situation by changing colors, shapes, and sizes of the baits he is using.
COLOR SELECTION
One of the easiest ways to adjust for water clarity changes is by switching colors. As a general rule of thumb, Shryock matches the color of soft plastic to the water clarity.
“I like natural colors for clear water and darker colors for dirty or tannic water,” he said. “This is really important when using a bait like a Senko where it has hardly any action and the fish have to see it.”
