recent tournaments at venues including
the Delta and Havasu.
The Opens, at least in the past, proved
to be more problematic as the fields
simply didn’t stay full. Perhaps under the
newer “win and you’re in” format they
would, but that remains to be seen.
The Elite Series is strongest when
not only is the talent exceptional, but
when it’s diverse. Having Japanese
pros on tour brought new techniques
to the field. Having Carl Jocumsen in
the field, even if he honed his bass
fishing chops stateside, brought
a substantial influx of fans who
wouldn’t otherwise have followed
the pros.
When western pros – or
Canadian pros or female pros or any other sub-group -- don’t have an incentive to pursue the Elite dream,
Luke Clausen B.A.S.S./Gary Tramonitina
the sport loses out.
