HAIR MATERIAL

As with all lures and techniques, there are several variations that an angler can implement. Natural hair material such as deer tail, caribou hair and rabbit fur are common among do-it-yourselfers. These materials can be used sparingly to create the most realistic hair jigs because hair expands and contracts with movement. While most anglers prefer natural hair, synthetic fibers are quickly becoming a favorite because there are several manufacturers now producing quality hair jigs at a reduced cost. After trying several brands, the biggest takeaway is to give yourself a fighting chance when fish seem to stop biting. Lock- jaw is not necessarily a situation that must leave you with a bruised ego, or an excuse to hit the water again when the temperatures rise, it may be a decision that

turns negative fish into a positive experience and a wealth of knowledge learned for future fishing trips.
