WACKY STICKBAITS

When the bite is tough, or you just need to slow down your presentation, a wacky-rigged soft plastic stickbait is a great choice. Regardless of if the targets are shallow around boat docks or cover to out deep, inserting a nail weight and fishing a Neko-rig, soft plastic stickbaits catch bass!

The sink rate of the soft plastic stickbait will vary by the size of the nail weight in the tail. I like to use a Zoom Zlinky or Yamamoto Senko.

The slow fall of the wacky-rigged soft plastic stickbait can cater to the bass that are higher up in the water column that are feeding on the schooling bluegills, or

it can sink down and be in front of one of the bass lurking waiting for a bigger meal.

CHANGE IT UP

For a different look with your wacky-rig, you can opt for a weighted hook, like the Northland Fishing Tackle Weedless Wacky Jig. What I like about this presentation is the weight of the jig. Coupled with the weight of the soft plastic stickbait the rig will sink in the water quickly. This has helped me if the bass are sitting up shallow in denser

vegetation and I need to get the bait down to

them.

When you are on the water this fishing

season, and feel you may be in a rut, keep

these three lures in mind as it can change

your day of fishing. •
