BOAT COVERS NO LONGER FIT

Even with optional dog-bone bracing they can bounce wildly in rough water, or prevent mounting sonar displays where you wish. Because trolling motor shafts bend, a brace can put the pole in a bind and restrict movement of both the pole and trolling motor.

ANOTHER MOTOR?

Most opt for a motorized version, which presents additional challenges. While the convenience of a motorized turret is undisputed, the speed and mechanism for controlling motor direction is often slow and not precise. Predominantly, push buttons on your deck must be stomped on to steer to the left, and another to steer right.

Liken this to the early arguments of the advantages of a cable-steer trolling motor over an electric-steer version. Many find it frustrating to step on a button and wait for the motor to slowly steer where you want to look. And getting the motor to stop precisely where you want is even more challenging.

Multiple left and right button presses may be necessary to pinpoint that brush pile, and adjusting the transducer aim

to show your lure during the retrieve can be difficult without precise and quick movement.

SPECIES-DEPENDENT

Depending on your style of fishing, and the fish species you seek, many or some of these considerations are immaterial. If you fish for crappie holding to a large brush pile, or catfish or trout while sitting on anchor lock in one spot all day, you can get by with almost any style pole.

If you are a multi-species angler or highly mobile bass angler, you develop a love-hate relationship with a separate pole. You love it when you are anchored in a single spot focused on fishing a piece of structure, but you hate it when it is time to pack up and move to the next spot. And if the water gets rough, it can downright be dangerous.

Necessity gives birth to innovation. FFS is so popular that bass anglers are not willing to live with the problems posed by separate poles, nor the restrictions of trolling motor shaft mounts. They want the best of both worlds.

Enter Revolution Sonar. Finally, someone solved how to gain all the advantages of a shaft mount, and all the advantages of a separate motorized pole mount, without any of the disadvantages. That someone is a Kentuckian
