Deep summertime schools of fish can be the most dependable, most reliable, most consistent bite you’ll ever find. Until they decide it’s“game over.” Sometimes they just stop biting. Sometimes they scatter slowly. And sometimes they altogether disappear, but when it’s done, anglers need to adjust on the fly. “Electronics are so good now that you can assess the situation a lot quicker,” said veteran Louisiana pro Clark Reehm, who frequently guides at Sam Rayburn.“Sometimes they’re just gone. Sometimes, they’re not gone, they’re suspended. Forward facing sonar helps us catch a lot of those fish, but it also tells us when we can’t.
