FROG TWEAKS

that lead to more bass

I
was looking for a bait to start my day as I idled
out on the landing channel out to the main lake.
As I made my way to the opening there was a good-sized pad field to my right. When I got closer, I
eased my outboard into neutral and hopped onto my
front deck, lowering my trolling motor into the water
quietly. I reached down and picked up my frog rod and
just watched, my goal was to see if I could see any action
starting to happen.
After a few minutes I could see some movements on
the edge of the pads starting to happen, so I waited a little
longer before I made my first cast.
As I took a closer look I could see a wake moving
across the surface heading towards me and the surface
blew up in front of my boat. I knew I was in the right place
to start my day.
When I started to fish, I got a few looks, but I could not get any bass to commit to my offering that morning. As I idled away a little while later all I could do was scratch my head and think what did I do wrong? Why could I not get any bass to bite? Everything seemed to be right for it to go down on a frog this morning but the results did not show that?
Thinking back on that situation many times I have a pretty good idea of some of the things that I did wrong that morning.
I do not care what bait you are fishing, there are always a few tweaks and changes that you can make to your bait to get something special to get you a few more bites during your day on the water. I have learned some of these adjustments from interviews I have had with the Frog Master himself Dean Rojas in the past and a few others that I have learned the hard way just fishing a frog and measuring the results.
