I

t seems the California to

Alabama migration among

California professional anglers is more than a trend. Aaron Martens

and Justin Lucas are two who made

that move along with Mark Daniels,

Jr. Each of them brought along some

valuable lessons learned from the

West Coast to their careers as traveling

professional bass anglers.

Daniels now fishes the Major

League Fishing Bass Pro Tour, along

with those other two Cali-Bama

transplants, and has brought many

of the tools he learned on western

waters across the country. He’s also

been forced to learn to adapt and be

willing to learn things to survive as a

professional angler.

DANIELS THE “DELTA RAT”

Even though Daniels hails from Northern California, with some of the most diverse fisheries anywhere, the California Delta was where he spent his time. This was a valuable place to learn as he has found many similarities from his home waters when fishing unknown waters.

“There are many of the same types of vegetation in places like Florida and even up north in New York,” he said. “That has helped when we go to those fisheries because I can relate to what worked on the Delta.”
