Before kicking off on this jungle journey, it is wise to streamline your kayak

Water levels are seemingly everchanging but the past handful of years, many western reservoirs have routinely risen above their banks, breathing new life into flooded areas that can only be fished in their entirety via fishing kayak

My go-to toad is a Strike King Rage Tail Toad rigged on a TK 140 Trokar Swimbait hook. I rig the toads on a swimbait hook as attaching the baits via screw lock – instead of directly onto a EWG hook – gets more fish per bait and its seems to swim better when rigged this way.

When it comes to my hollow-bodied frogs, I almost exclusively fish LiveTarget’s frogs in a green/ brown color pattern, which imitates bullfrogs in the west – almost perfectly.

FROG GEAR: Since at this point I’ve streamlined my gear, I throw both my toads and frogs on the same setup – a heavy-action rod paired with a high- speed reel, spooled with heavy braid.

JIGS FOR CRAWDAD IMITATORS: When I come to a barren bank, with a downed tree in the water,
