ven if they haven’t thrown it or even know how

to rig it, many anglers have at least heard of the

Neko rig by now. So, in that regard, it’s hardly a secret. Yet, there seems to still be an aura of secrecy around

this rig; perpetuated in large part by the fact that some of the

best finesse anglers refuse to talk about. And, if they refuse

to talk about the Neko rig, it must be some sort of secret

weapon. Right?

We decided to find out.

NEKO RIG BASICS

Before delving into the secrecy over the rig, we first have to explain what it is. “It’s basically a combination of a shakey head and a wacky rig,” says Wade Curtiss, FLW Tour pro from Lincoln, Calif. If that seems pretty straightforward it’s because it is.
