covering the first day of the 2016 FLW

Tour event on Pickwick Lake, I pulled up on

Jason Lambert to get an update and take photos, as the Pickwick Dam, Tenn., native was one

of the favorites to win. But as we got closer I noticed

something about the way he was standing and fishing

looked off. Then I realized why it looked funny – he

wasn’t using a casting setup; his right hand held a

spinning rod. Thus, my confused question.

It was strange enough to see one of the best Tennessee River offshore anglers holding something usually reserved for Beaver Lake or a spotted bass fishery, but what was a one-off occurrence quickly became a trend.
