Swim Jigs - Davis Baits Bill Lowen and J Series, Strike King Hack Attack and Talon Lures Yuugyo
I
can’t remember ever going to a body of water
to fish in California when I didn’t have a drop-
shot rig tied on a rod. Like many anglers in the
West, I viewed a dropshot rig as something to have ready at all times. Whether I was on one of the
lakes, on the Delta or Clear Lake; there were plenty
of times that it was the only thing that could get a
bite.
Of course there were adjustments to the rig
itself depending on the cover; heavier line, different
hooks and baits, but the concept remained the
28
same; I had to have the dropshot rig ready. Now that I’m fishing different waters in the South, many of the waters are more like rivers than a reservoir, and I’ve found that I have to have a different setup ready all the time.
A swim jig is my new dropshot.
