selection of plastic trailers
on the market and the perceived hassle of dealing with pork trailers drying out and not wanting to come off of your jig when you are done for the day.
I realized some of the drawbacks after I was done fishing and had a hard time getting it off of the hook, but while I was fishing I was able to catch multiple fish with one trailer which is a huge plus for pork.
Iknowtherearemanyloyalporktrailerfansstilltoday, but the popularity has fallen off over the years. I realized
this when I went to a few local tackle stores to find some for this article and saw that there are not many retailers carrying it anymore. This alone proves the pointaboutthisbeingan“oldschool”bait.
While this bait and it’s added scent really
shine during the colder months, I found it to
match my catches for soft plastic trailers during
the late spring and it added a nice, bulky effect
to my jigs.
RESULTS
All of these baits caught fish and there would be no way to prove that one worked better than the newer version. If nothing else, it showed that you do not have to have the newest, most expensive tackle to fool a bass.
Going “old school” may be just another way to look back and try something one more time. As bass fisherman, we are always looking for the next best thing and it is great to be able to use some of my old tackle and maybe use something that the fish have not seen in months or years.
