During the discovery, it was determined that Barth’s sponsors did in fact support Barth, in an effort to promote their brand. Barth was compensated with discounts, product, or dollars. The attorney named each company in the lawsuit.
Of the companies, two did not have insurance as they worked out of their home. Even so, they were named defendants and their personal assets were at risk for defense and settlement.
The tackle store did in fact have coverage that protected them; however their position was only to cover themselves for a small portion of the loss.
