on the finesse side,” he said. “But more times than not, I opt to fish this setup with a baitcaster, because I am able to fish faster and have the confidence that I can get the bass hooked and out of the cover when needed.

“That is the main reason I have this tactic in my back pocket. Also, if I am looking to use a bigger bait to attract bigger bites, I have that option, because I am matching the worm hook that I want to fish in this system. The biggest reason of why I fish the LDS is I get my bait closer to the cover and there is no leader involved.”

market as a regular setup yet. To make the leaderless drop shot you will have to make this combination yourself.

You will need a size #1 or #2 SPRO Slip Ring, SPRO swivel, Drop Shot weight, and a Gamakatsu Worm Hook of your choice along with a pair of slip ring pliers.

Start by putting the split ring through the hook eye, then put the swivel and your weight onto your split ring. Tie your line to the open eye of the swivel and thread a worm or other plastic bait choice onto your worm hook.

Fukae leans towards fishing his LDS on a baitcaster setup as he mainly fishes the LDS in heavier cover than he will his drop shot setup.

“If I have a situation where the cover is not that thick, I may still use a spinning setup to keep it more

BONUS TACTIC

“I have been talking about this rig for the last few years and it is part of my finesse tactics now, but we can get into those details later as I feel the Go Free Rig is going to come to light in the near future” shared Fukae.

I hope this shines a little more light on the finesse side of bassin’, as we all know catching bass has been getting a little tougher with all the pressure that we are putting on our water systems and the bass.

“If you are shying away from grabbing a spinning setup you may want to rethink that thought and come over to the lighter side” advised Fukae. •
