Pickin’ up the Ranger in Flippin’, Wilson was asked to sign the Ranger sign as a pro
HITTIN’ THE ROAD
With the first FLW Tour event of 2019 under his belt, Wilson is on his way to the traveling pro angler life.
“Getting ready for the season was kind of crazy,” he said “I think I overpacked. I have a lot of tackle. Well, you can’t have too much tackle. I love tackle. On the road when I see a tackle store, I have to pull in and see what they have. But it’s not just tackle, there are items for cooking on the road, extension cords, air mattresses – just a lot of things to be totally prepared.”
You never know what you see on the road – a carving of an alligator at a Kissimmee campground
ONE DONE
Although he felt the first FLW Tour stop of the 2019 season set up like the familiar setting of the California Delta, Wilson revealed ups and down at the event.
“It was fun,” he began. “But I never thought I was on anything. I wasn’t really nervous because I didn’t really have anything going; so, I was going to just fish.”
“Because it seemed like the Delta, I felt like any flip – any cast could be a giant and then on the first day, I didn’t do well. I was disappointed because I knew I was better fishermen
than that. I made a big
improvement into check
range for my 55th finish
and that was huge!
Wilson would
recommend the “Livin’ the
Dream” path to aspiring
anglers.
“The TBF is great for
the weekend angler,” he
said. “I wish I would have
known about it sooner.
I am thankful for the
opportunity to win this
and I am going to try to
make professional fishing
my career.” •
