In his own words, here his off-season update, prior to
the Elite Series season-opener blastoff.
HOLIDAY HIATUS
When the season ends in the fall, we get a little bit of a break– a time to regroup back home at Lake Guntersville. If anybody’s out west is looking to come out this way, Guntersville is a top bass fishing destination, like the Delta and Clear Lake is for the western anglers. It is a great fishery to live on and offers a place for the boys to go out and fish anytime they want.
Since the season wrapped up, I haven’t done a lot of fishing personally; but I’ve been spending time doing some high school fishing with my son who is on the Guntersville Fishing Team. We home school him on the road; but they allow him to fish on the high school team here.
GIVING BACK
During this off-season time, we work hard at my boat giveaway to raise money for King’s Home, a faith-based charity out of Birmingham, Ala. King’s Home is nearly a 50- year old charity that helps kids, teens and women that are abandoned, abused and neglected. There are boys and girl’s ranches, plus women’s homes that are all run on private donations.
For me, tournament fishing is a platform for me to reach people and share a bigger purpose, which is King’s Home and other need-based charities in other states, like King’s Home.
We help with an annual boat giveaway. Tickets are a $100 donation and each ticket provides an entry to win the fully-rigged bass boat that I fished from during the season.
