Accordingly to Lain, the lake’s population of bass is very healthy and regularly produces fish in the four to five-pound range. “Last spring I would regularly catch 10- to 15 fish in the three to four-pound range on each trip with a seven or eight pounder thrown in for good measure.” Lain said. “The lake is so good that I call it baby Clear Lake.” Lain believes that Lake Skinner is as healthy as the bass populations that he sees when he travels north to big bass fisheries like the California Delta or Clear Lake which are both located in Northern California.

Anglers targeting Lake Skinner’s bass will be happy to know that the fish respond very positively to a variety of reaction baits. “Lake Skinner is a power fishing lake,” said Nitro Boats pro Todd Woods. “I used to live 15 minutes from the lake, in Murrieta and there would be days where I had the lake all to myself.”
According to Woods, the lake sets up great for power fishing with baits such as spinnerbaits, jigs, swimbaits, crankbaits, frogs, and a variety of other reaction baits working. “Lake Skinner is a great swimbait lake.” Woods added. “It is the
