PIVOTING WHERE OTHERS ARE FIXED
I like fishing swing heads, like the
Owner Pivot Head, in the same places
other anglers fish a traditional fixed jig
head design.
I’ve learned the Pivot Head’s free-
moving design draws strikes from
bass who have become cautious of
traditional presentations, especially
when fishing behind other anglers.
Owner uses a split ring to
connect the head to the hook. That
not only ensures unrestricted
movement between the bait and
the weight, but it also allows an
angler to use the hook of their
choice to best fit the presentation
they’re fishing.
During the post-spawn when
bass move off the beds they
often relate to the first piece of
cover they can find, like laydowns
and stumps. I target these
isolated pieces of cover with a

3/8 oz model in shallow water
or in calm conditions, and go with the ½-oz in
deeper water or in
a stiff wind.
