you get that big one hooked and she comes shootin’ out of the cover, right at you, you have to maintain hook point pressure and keep your rod loaded up to keep those hooks in the fish’s nose. if she gets slack, she’s one shake from gettin’ off.”

The Buzz needs braid. Barrack’s braid is 65# Stren and he ties his Buzz on with a trilene knot. He explained, “Mainly for the minimal stretch, but also for its buoyancy, 95 percent of the time, i will use braid for topwater. i don’t like 80#; because the diameter is too big and you cannot get enough on your reel. i also don’t like 50#, because it is too thin and after a few fish, it can start to cut through itself.”

WHAT’S SO PERFECT ABOUT THE BUZZ?

“The Perfect Buzz was designed for fishing floating vegetation or for when the fish are in a chasing mode. That is when the Perfect Buzz really excels,” said Barrack. The buzz frog follows the concept of marrying two greats. The buzzbait and the frog are both awesome baits in their own right. Put them together and you get the best of both worlds. The mix becomes a floating buzzbait or a 4-wheeling frog.

The floatability allows the buzz frog to come to a complete halt without sinking. This makes a start/ stop retrieve a possibility that a buzzbait could never have. The prop puts the power in front of the frog offering the maneuverability of motoring over vegetation or chop on the water that a regular frog could not compete with.

“it really is a game changer,” noted Barrack as he loaded the boat with the Buzz riding two foot waves in the tract.

BUZZ COLORS

You can find a Perfect Buzz in a six pack of colors.

regardless of conditions, clear or dingy water, “Fred”

is always Barrack’s first choice. Fred’s color scheme

also lends itself well to mimic a bluegill pattern.

He will seek out some “Sexy” in extremely, clear

water and sparse vegetation or

water conditions, a green-

“Money”.

“Brown Bullfrog” is at its best in dingy water and the low-light levels of overcast skies, early morning or evening. Barrack boasts Brown Bullfrog is one of his big bass baits, noting the chartreuse and brown combination often produces quality over quantity.

He considers the “Black” Buzz as one of the hardest to beat, especially in minimal wind and clear water.

darker days call for louder, flashier colors; but Barrack noted, “While light penetration and water color are factors, an angler’s confidence in a color can always be the best on any given day.”
