hen bass move deep for summer,

the Carolina rig is an efficient,

effective, and fun way to target

them. everyone has his or her favorite Carolina setups and here’s mine. i use two

versions. one is a heavier style that’s great for long

casts and heavier weights. The other is a lighter rig

with lighter weights.

For my heavier Carolina rig, i use 15 lb Seaguar

with a 3/8 – 1 oz weight. The leader can vary in

size and length, but for heavy cover or dirty water,

stick with 15 lb Seaguar. if the water is clear or you

want your bait to float up a bit, downsize to an 8 lb

Seaguar leader. My standard leader length is about

2 feet. i can go up to a 4 foot leader or so. if there

are a lot of weeds or brush you might want to go a

little longer or if you feel like the fish are keying in on
