Eagle Eye is Lowrance’s complete live sonar unit with the same best-in-class resolution that ActiveTarget 2 has, meaning fishermen can watch the fish and react to them and their behavior in real-time. BUT Eagle Eye isn’t just live sonar. It also has CHIRP Sonar, and DownScan Imaging, with FishReveal in one transducer. It is pre-loaded with maps and can upgrade to C-Map DISCOVER with the ability to create custom maps with 6-inch contours. There are four sonar views that come from only one transducer. With the Eagle Eye concept, I imagine there won’t be many tournament anglers without one. If most everyone has one, (everyone has the tool), we are right back to who can use the tool the best. We are right back to who puts the time in to learn how to use the tool the best and how executes with it on any given day.

But like all tools, the fish will get used to it. Maybe they get used to the lures that anglers throw when using Forward Facing or maybe they get used to the way the lures are presented when using Forward Facing. Maybe they get turned off and become negative towards the sound of the Forward Facing units. They will get used to it and the success levels will change, just like the Alabama rig catch rate did. We will see it playout through its life cycle and then something else will come along and we will be talking about that.

Remember there was a time when anglers thought that the advancement from the paper graphs would be the end of bass fishing as anglers knew it, and yes, it may have been the end of bass fishing as we knew it, but it wasn’t the end of bass fishing. In the end, the anglers that learn to adapt and make the most of the available tools are the anglers that find success.

I always want to fish with the best tools. It is the best way to make the most of my time on the water and that is my career. That is why I have Lowrance electronics and while I will continue to.
